Try Cora's Isle-End Deli in Topsail Beach

TOPSAIL BEACH – There’s a new eatery in town and it’s worth a try. Cora’s Isle-End Deli opened in July and the menu is garnering rave reviews on TripAdvisor.

“We’re not your normal beachy deli,” said Jeff Voelck, the owner of Cora’s Isle-End Deli. “We bring in different flavors – Indian, Asian, and Thai - and combinations of flavors.”

Voelck is creative in his menu. To pay tribute to David Bowie’s passing, he created a special called Piggy Stardust. His printed menu is mouth-watering, but the extras that he creates are very tempting. He makes an egg salad BLT, Chipotle Beef Wrap, and Shrimp Almond Bisque.

“I think we’ve had about 100 different sandwiches that we made up that aren’t on our menu,” said Voelck.

There are local favorites like shrimp po’ boy, clam chowder, shrimp and grits, and chicken and pastry that Voelck creates daily too.

“Our specials vary from day to day,” he said. “We cook what seems good for the day.”

On a cold, windy, and rainy day, Cora’s Isle-End Deli served home cooked chicken and pastry as a special.

Voelck’s printed menu includes salads, wraps that are lightly grilled, sandwiches, and panini.

“Our food is fresh and we use high quality meats and cheeses,” he said.

The menu lists “Plain Ol’ Boring Salad” to Cora’s Salad Supreme. The wraps come in all combinations, such as ham and pineapple, turkey and apple, and beef and onion, just to name a few. The sandwiches, such as Cuban Panini, Cora’s Club, are large and filling. Voelck doesn’t skimp on the meats and cheese.

Cora’s Isle-End Deli offers the area’s largest selection of teas. If names such as Black Dragon Eyes,  White Tangerine, or Jasmine Phoenix Pearls don’t pique a visitors’ interest, nothing will.

“We’re pleased with a selection of teas,” said Voelck. “It’s the largest selection around.”

Voelck, who studied film, likes creating flavor. He makes all of his dressings, sauces, jams, soups, and salads fresh.

The deli is named after Voelck’s 3.5 year old rescue greyhound. The wall to the kitchen features comics about Cora the Dog. Voelck created movie posters featuring Cora.

“Cora was a racing greyhound turned into an actress and chef,” laughed Voelck.

Cora’s Isle-End Deli is located at 810 S. Anderson Blvd., next door to the Main Street Inn and the Topsail Island Police Department. There are tables for indoor seating and when the weather warms up, there is outdoor seating available too.

Voelck offers catering for business lunches, receptions, and parties. Contact him at 910-541-2007 (the hotline to deli-cious) to discuss a menu.
