“We built an amazing barn on our sound side property last year and started inviting friends and valued customers to see our tide-to-table vision; enjoying our raw and barbequed oysters as well as locally sourced provisions. That transpired into large events including fundraisers for the NC Coastal Federation and an Oceanfest Gala. We also have had holiday parties including a Saint Patrick's Day bash featuring top BBQ purveyors in the state. These events showed us how excited people were to enjoy a unique experience near the water, in the pines, at our barn enjoying oysters and other local delicacies. We secured our ABC license to serve beer and wine and acquired a food truck to ramp up our food offerings to include crudos, caviar dogs, fish spreads, charcuterie, and much more. As a result, we decided to open from Memorial Day to Labor Day on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.” said Conor MacNair President and CEO.
Alyssa MacNair is Conor’s partner in both life and the business and has a special knack for turning a simple barn into a southern craft cottage. They have picnic tables that can be reserved on their website at nseaoyster.co and they can accommodate both open-air seating and indoor covered seating in the barn when necessary. A unique offering at the barn is the use of KUDU grills that sit tableside for you to enjoy a shuck and grill your own experience. Music is often a feature and they hope to add a lineup down the road to enhance the experience. Oyster pickups can be pre-arranged to bring home. “People want to have a unique experience, they want to know who grew their food, they feel better about sustainable experiences, and they enjoy the fine food yet casual atmosphere we are creating. Please make a reservation and come see us,” said Alyssa. Their address is 674 Old Landing Road in Hampstead. It's close yet a world away.
They hope to continue to add local products from the region to their offering and look forward to seeing you soon. This is a first-of-its-kind experience in the region. Don't miss out.
