Stakeholders to Gather for NC First in Freedom Planning Meeting

The inaugural NC First in Freedom Stakeholders Meeting will convene on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Cape Fear Museum at 814 Market Street, Wilmington, NC. This pivotal meeting will bring together key leaders, partners, and stakeholders to lay the groundwork for the North Carolina First in Freedom Festival, a monumental celebration honoring over 250 years of American history, culture, and freedom.

‘’This festival, slated for 2026, will highlight eastern North Carolina’s integral role in shaping the nation’s story, with events planned across the southeastern counties to showcase its historical significance, artistic contributions, and diverse communities,’’ states Steve Roberts, A250 Ranger.

The meeting will serve as a collaborative forum to discuss strategies, partnerships, and event opportunities to make the celebration an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors.

Agenda Highlights Include:
• Overview of the First in Freedom Festival Vision
• Opportunities for County and Regional Participation
• Collaborative Ideas for Showcasing Historical Sites, Arts, and Culture
• Planning Timelines and Funding Opportunities
• Open Forum for Stakeholder Input

The meeting will feature opportunities for attendees to network and contribute ideas to the planning process.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape an event that will commemorate not only North Carolina’s history.

Stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate, including representatives from local governments, businesses, historical societies, arts organizations, and community groups.

The NC First in Freedom Festival aims to unite communities in celebration, reflection, and education. It is a chance to honor North Carolina’s legacy and highlight the stories that make the state a cornerstone of American history.

Attendance is free, but seating is limited. Join us as we continue to prepare to commemorate a milestone in our nation’s history and celebrate the spirit of freedom in southeastern NC.
