Located in the eastern area of Pender County, Maple Hill is known as an agricultural center of farmers who specialize in delicious ham meats and turkeys. Some of its farmers have raised and sold as many as 5,000 turkeys in a season.
Maple Hill is said to be named for a large maple tree or group of maple trees that once stood on a hill either adjacent to or in the community.
Rich in history, many Maple Hill families can trace their genealogy all the way back to those who originally settled in the area from Wales during Colonial Times. Maple Hill is proud to have furnished many patriotic citizens in the War Between the States, the First World War and World War II.
