Join us as Pender County will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a special event at the Pender County Courthouse on Feb. 16, 2025, at 2 p.m. The ceremony will include speeches from local leaders and the unveiling of a new clock and historical marker on the courthouse grounds. As part of the sesquicentennial celebration, the county also will create a time capsule to be opened during its bicentennial in 2075. The capsule will preserve the county’s history, values, and spirit for future generations. Pender County residents are invited to contribute items that represent the community. Items should reflect the county’s history and spirit and must be free of liquids and corrosive materials. Suggested items include photographs, letters, local memorabilia, or anything that reflects the heart of Pender County. This is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Pender County’s legacy. Contributions can be submitted through an online form at found at pendercountync.gov Anniversary Celebration Details The celebration begins at 2 p.m. at the Pender County Courthouse on Feb. 16, 2025. The public is encouraged to attend this historic occasion as the county honors its 150 years and looks to its future. Reception will be held at Pender Arts Council, 111 S Wright St. after the courthouse ceremony.
